1 · Invite
Open the door to all that is good. An invitation is warm. Nobody is dragged to a feast.
Let there be among you a community that invites to all that is good, urges what is right, and forbids what is wrong. They are the truly successful.
Tap any word to open it ↓Before it: hold together. After it: don't split. Calling to good sits right in the middle, because it is what holds a people together. When people stop reminding each other, the rope starts to slip.
The word أُمَّةٌ comes from a root meaning to aim, to head toward. The same root gives أُمّ, mother, the one a family gathers around, and إِمَام, the one who stands in front. Being in the same place doesn't make people one community. Sharing a direction does. And the verse says مِّنكُمْ, "from among you". This is not someone else's job. It has to grow from inside.

Encourage what every healthy heart already knows is right.
Only then, speak against the wrong. With care, never cruelty.
Many people start with "don't". This verse starts with an invitation. All three verbs are in the present tense: they keep inviting, keep urging, keep warning. It is a way of life, not a one-time speech.
Everyone has a share. The Prophet ﷺ taught: change a wrong with your hand. If you can't, then with your words. If you can't, then at least hate it in your heart. (Muslim)
The word for right, ٱلْمَعْرُوف, means "the known": the good every healthy heart recognizes, like honesty, mercy and fairness. The word for wrong, ٱلْمُنكَر, means "the unrecognized": what feels strange to a clean conscience. Both roots meet in the story of Prophet Yusuf: "he recognized them, but they did not recognize him" (12:58). When no one speaks, the strange slowly starts to look normal. This community keeps the good familiar and the wrong strange.
The word ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ comes from a root meaning to split the soil. It is the same root as the Arabic word for farmer. A farmer plows, plants and waters, but cannot force one seed to grow. That belongs to Allah. Your part is to invite, urge and warn. Success is the sincere effort, not the number of people who listen.
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ "those" is a pointer for something far away, as if lifting them to a high rank. هُمُ "they" adds focus: it is they who truly succeed.
"Whoever calls to guidance gets a reward like those who follow it, without their reward being reduced at all." The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Muslim)
